As you probably know I’m a huge fan of living walls and botanical themed decor, largely because of the calming ambience and the feeling of tranquility they create. However did you know there is a good reason for this? Within my role as an Occupational
Therapist, I work with so many people with cognitive and sensory processing difficulties that struggle to relax and socialise in public places, and often avoid them at all costs. However botanical themed spaces, with living plants, always seem to create a more relaxing and tranquil environment. This is because plants are effective at reducing noise pollution, decreasing stress and fatigue, increasing oxygen production and creating an instant feeling of calm. Therefore by using them in walls they work to save energy, maintain room temperature and purify the air, creating an instant feeling of relaxation. I absolutely love the Botanist in Cheltenham, a secret garden of fantastic food and drink, which in my opinion, has this spot on.
Now just to persuade my husband to let me do this at home!!!
